Students attending the school will have opportunity to join in evening music sessions, boat rides, photography tours etc. Sessions are free (except on the tour boat), other activities will be discounted for students.
- New England Style Traditional Contradance: July 2nd, 7:30PM, at the Hull's Cove School House in Hulls Cove Maine (a couple miles from the COA Campus). Acadia Trad School is sponsoring the dance with John McIntire calling. The band for the evening will include Acadia Trad School faculty, Julia Plumb and Baron Collins-Hill, (of Velocipede). Get your dancing shoes out. No experience needed, all dances will be tought. There is an $8 cover charge for this event. Everyone is welcome. See map below for directions
- Québécois Style Traditional Contradance: July 16th, 7:30PM, at the Hull's Cove School House in Hulls Cove Maine (a couple miles from the COA Campus). The band for the evening will include Québécois fiddlers (and Acadia Trad School teachers) Richard Forest, Julia Plumb and Baron Collins-Hill (of Velocipede). Get your dancing shoes out. - Sunset session on the bay: / Acadian Nature Cruise company will be hosting sunset cruises Monday and Tuesday evenings both weeks (July 1,2 and July 15,16). Acadia Trad Students are encouraged to bring their instruments on board and play for the tour boat. For this nature cruise the adult price is $20.00. Kids 6 to 14 are $13.00 and any kids 5 or under are $5.00.
- Join professional and local photographer, Howie Motenko, for a three-hour photography workshop.
Explore composition, lighting and exposure while capturing Acadia's inner beauty.
Start getting cozy with your digital camera and bring home stunning images from our national park. Howie Motenko is the creator of the "Painting Bridgets, Uniting Community and Art" project.
This workshop costs $37 per person (a 25% discount for Acadia Trad School Students, normally $49). Available 6/30 & 7/7, contact [email protected] reservations and more information.
- Bicycle on Acadia National Park's beautiful and historic Carriage Roads and stone bridges with local guide Michael Rosenstein. 3-5 PM Friday (both weeks). BYO bicycle (mountain or hybrid), helmet, H2O. Local bike rentals are available at the Bar Harbor Bicycle Shop. This activity is FREE, not including cost of bike rental if needed (but cookies accepted).
