Welcome to Acadia Trad School sessions! Sessions are free and open to everyone to come play and/or listen. The main thing is to have fun. Slow sessions are great for beginners and people who want to learn new tunes. All tunes are played at slow to moderate tempo. We enourge you to start here if you are new to trad music.

Advanced sessions range in tempo from slow to fast. Everyone is welcome to take part in the advanced sesisons, but there is no expectation that tunes will be played slow. For beginners, the advanced sessions are great for getting into the feel of the music, meet people, and do your best to play along.

Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate at all sessions!

The next slow session is at the Trenton Grange, Wednesday, October 9th, from 7 to 9PM. The Grange is Trenton Maine (near Ellsworth).

The next advnaced session is at Geaghan's, Sunday October 13th from 5 to 7PM. Geaghans is in Bangor Maine.

Here are some tunes to work on for our sessions. We recommend that you try to learn the tunes by ear; the sheet music is available to help fill in the gaps as needed. Note: the sheet music posted may not be exactly the same as the recorded tunes. There are so many different versions of the traditional tunes it is good to be exposed to the differences (as you will be when you go to sessions).

The slow recordings provide the melody in its simplest and easy to follow form; however, listening to the medium speed version several times will help you get the "feel" of the tune before you start to work on it.The videos provide you with a sense of how it is played in a fast session.
