Acadia Trad Festival Scholarships
Funded through generous donations, the Acadia Trad School’s Scholarship Program provides need-based tuition assistance to students who would otherwise be unable to attend the Acadia Trad Festival. In 2017, 20 students received funds from this program, totaling over $6000! More than 60 students have benefitted from this program since its inception.
Now is a great time to give the gift of a dream come true for a student who would love to attend in 2018, but needs a little help to get there. PLEASE consider making a TAX DEDUCTIBLE donation to our program. 100% of your donation goes to the students who receive these scholarships and the number of scholarships we can provide to students is directly dependent on our fund-raising. The more we raise, the more students we can assist.
The Acadia Trad Young Artist Award
When funds allow and a stellar young artist emerges from a given Festival’s scholarship student class, the Acadia Trad School scholarship committee may choose to present the prestigious Acadia Trad Young Artist Award. This award provides that student with full tuition, room and board to attend the Acadia Trad Festival in the following year. In addition, the Acadia Trad Young Artist Award provides financial assistance toward apprenticeships with Festival faculty, or private instruction in their major instrument. Students are paired with seasoned musicians who work with them over the course of the year as they develop their technical and performance skills. Students who receive the award are also featured at Acadia Trad Festival performances.
If you would like to earmark your donation for the Acadia Trad Young Artist Award, please follow up your donation with an email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for your support!
Apply for Scholarships
Thanks to our generous donors, we are pleased to be able to offer a limited number of need-based scholarships to the Acadia Trad Festival. Scholarships pay for one half of the tuition fee only (lodging and food are not included in the scholarship program). Scholarships are available to students at any age or level, but we ask that you apply based on need — the program is designed to offer financial assistance to students who would otherwise not be able to attend.
The Scholarship application period runs from October 1 – January 31. Late applications will be reviewed only if sufficient funding is available to accept more applications. To be considered for a scholarship, all applicants must register and complete the scholarship section of the form, as well as pay the 25% tuition deposit at time of application. Applicants will be notified by email of their scholarship status no later than February 15, 2018. Applicants who are awarded the scholarship will be asked to make payment of the balance by May 31st. Scholarships awarded for the 2018 Festival must be used in 2018. If you do not receive a scholarship, and you opt not to attend the Festival, your deposit will be returned.
MAY 2018 UPDATE: Thanks to a generous donor we have a few remaining scholarships available for full-time students in the major areas of study: Banjo, Bouzouki, Cello, Dance, Guitar, Mandolin. Funds will be awarded on a first-come-first-served basis, so apply today!
As of the 2018 Festival, there is no longer a work requirement for Scholarship students. If you would LIKE to volunteer, please indicate this in the Volunteer section of your Registration form. We need loads of help to make this Festival run, so thank you in advance for considering it!
